About Rural Education Society

Patla was known for providing quality education to the rural children in the region. The primary school of the village (up to grade 5) was set up way back in 1935. Lokmanya Tilak Higher Primary School was established in 1954. Significantly, a rural education society was set up in Patla in 1977 that boosted the efforts to enhance the educational opportunities. In 1983, under the enlightened leadership of Sri Pangala Rabindra Nayak, a well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist of Udupi, the much awaited high school began to function as ‘U S Nayak Kannada Medium High School’. Since then, both Lokmanya Tilak Higher Primary School and U S Nayak Kannada Medium High School have been operating under the aegis of Rural Education Society, Patla. It would be worthwhile to note that Lokmanya Tilak Higher Primary School has 2.09 acres of land at Hirebettu village and U S Nayak Kannada Medium High School owns 4.40 acres area in Marne village. Evidently, there is adequate space for the necessary expansion and possible enhanced constructive activities of the schools.

While it is an established fact that the primary school and the high school of Patla have been striving for providing quality education to the rural students for decades, the changing dynamics of the education demand a relook at the existing limitations. There is a pressing need to prepare the schools to meet the demands of the present and future.
